Fifth Avenue/Quinta Avenida
Avenida Quinta is a pedestrian mall in Playa Del Carmen with various shops and stands from artisans hawking crafts to fancy European boutiques, restaurants, and hotels. It is a great place for people watching and seeking out souvenirs and gifts. Anything you need or want can be found on Avenida Quinta. |
Bargaining
When shopping in Mexico, remember that besides at pharmacies, convenience stores, and other chains, prices are almost always negotiable. Also, most vendors and stores offer the same kinds of things. Comparison shop and always ask the lowest price on something you’re interested in. Also, be a savvy shopper. Vendors and shops off the beaten path will be much cheaper than a shop on Fifth Avenue. And don’t even think of buying gifts on Cozumel! It’s the most expensive area on the Mayan Riviera! |
Shopping on the Mayan Riviera
The Mayan Riviera is full of shops and vendors that will tempt you with their wares. Feel free to indulge! There are plenty of wonderful crafts and souvenirs that you’ll want to take home. Guests at Playa Paraiso should be sure to check out the fish market in Puerto Morales. If you enjoy cooking fresh fish, you won’t find fresher than at this market! |
